Casden Properties' mixed-use development proposed for the site of Movietown Plaza will bring new life to the East Side of West Hollywood by replacing an outdated shopping center with a contemporary retail-residential community.

The project design calls for a unified development consisting of two 10-story buildings at the rear of the property and two mid-rise buildings, all situated around landscaped gardens and walkways. The retail space will enliven Santa Monica Boulevard by enhancing pedestrian activity on the East Side and linking with other destinations in the area such as the West Hollywood Gateway.

An environmental impact report will be prepared to study potential impacts, including traffic, circulation, noise, air quality, aesthetics and other issues. Based on current projections, construction is anticipated to begin in 2010.
Designed by the award-winning architecture firm Van Tilburg, Banvard & Soderbergh, AIA (VTBS) to be a landmark for West Hollywood, the project will feature:

32,300 square feet of street-front neighborhood-serving retail space

294 market-rate condominiums

76 units of affordable housing for senior citizens

An inviting pedestrian scale with lushly landscaped plaza, mews and courtyards

All parking on site located in a primarily subterranean garage accessed by multiple entry points off of Fuller Avenue and Poinsettia Place

A full range of amenities, including a pool, state-of-the-art fitness and recreation center, and rooftop terraces and gardens

Compliance with the City of West Hollywood’s innovative Green Building Ordinance, which requires all private development to meet sustainability standards
